It was their last film together and with Katharine's niece who many believed to be their "love child" raised by her sister. In a recent conversation at Quora, someone asserted that this scene was shot in one take for some reason related to Tracy's health.As everyone involved in the production knew, Tracy was very ill and did in fact die very soon after shooting.
And as this was the last movie Spencer Tracy made, it also was the best movie that he made.
