The area around the floating oyster racks in the Wooli Wooli River produce good-sized bream, especially through the cooler months, and flathead tend to lie under the edges of the racks. Let’s get straight to the point: Wooli on the NSW North Coast is a fantastic fishing destination. Fishing expeditions can be organized with locals, for those who will love to venture past the Wooli Wooli river to sick the thrill of deep sea fishing. The Wooli Wooli river is the most pristine (clear water, free of human alterations) river in all of Australia, making its waters very conducive for fish life and wellbeing. As far as baits go, yabbies are the most preferred by the marine life of the area. Alternatively, launch a boat from one of Wooli’s boat ramps or go on a fishing charter (see below). Wide range of accommodation options Olivia The walking tracks range from 6.1km to 15.6km in length and are relatively flat and easy going. Walking distance to lovely cafe where we enjoyed breakfast. Big mangrove jacks can be caught at night in summer months. The old fishing co-op wharf in the centre of Wooli is worth a try for bream. Wooli is surrounded by some excellent walking tracks and trails: in town, along the beach and river, up to Wilsons Headland and in Yuraygir National Park. An absolute jewel of an area rich in wildlife and vegetation, very worth your while exploring. The owners take great pride in their establishment and provide their guests with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay, all year round. Take care not to touch the oyster racks themselves, which are on commercial leases. Use prawns and both cut and live baits for best results. Choose from many rock and beach fishing locations. Aaahh now that's a holiday at Skipper's Watch. The rock bar can only be navigated in a boat on the biggest tides and is really only canoe country from here on. Wooli pub serves the best pizzas. Perfect to wash off the sand and salt but even better at night, to shower under the stars! The outdoor area was wonderful to sit in and have a drink while the kids played safely. Fishing in the tidal Wooli Wooli River can be productive all year round, with an excellent supply of bream, whiting, flathead, tailor, mullet and many other species. Guests are free to borrow one of our three canoes to explore the river.
